Natural, Light & Airy Outdoor Family Photography in Edmonton
At Little One Photography, I’m passionate about creating light and airy family portraits that beautifully capture the warmth, laughter, and genuine connections between your loved ones in Edmonton, Alberta.
As an Edmonton family photographer, I specialize in relaxed, outdoor family photography that feels natural, joyful, and true to your family. My goal is to make every family session easy, fun, and full of real moments; whether that’s siblings bursting into giggles during a tickle fight, a quiet snuggle with mom, or shared laughter bathed in the glow of a golden evening sunset. My outdoor family photoshoots are more than just taking pictures; they’re about slowing down, being present, and celebrating the love that makes your family unique. When you look back on these photographs years from now, you’ll remember not just how you looked, but how you felt: the joy, the connection, and the fleeting moments that make family life so special.

Frequently Asked Questions About Edmonton Family Photoshoots
What is the best time for outdoor family photos in Edmonton?
I focus on a light and airy style, which means I want to capture your family in the softest, most dreamy light. On sunny days, about one hour before sunset is the perfect time, that’s when you’ll see that beautiful signature orange-hazel glow in your photos.
In Edmonton, sunsets can be quite late during the summer months. If your little ones tend to go to bed early, I recommend scheduling your session in May or October, when sunset times are a bit earlier.
If needed, we can also schedule a session on a cloudy day. The light will still be soft and beautiful, though you won’t get the same golden glow.
Where do family photography sessions take place in Edmonton?
Once you book your session, we’ll carefully discuss the location together to find the perfect spot for your family. We can choose from beautiful public parks like Rundle Park, Victoria Park, or explore private gardens that offer a more exclusive setting. I’ll guide you through all the options to make sure we find a location you’ll love!
What if my children don’t cooperate during the session?
That’s completely okay and very common. I design every family photography session around playful activities and simple games, so children can enjoy the experience instead of feeling pressured to pose. By focusing on connection and movement, kids naturally relax and show their true personalities.
I’ve worked with all kinds of families, including energetic little ones, and making the session fun makes a huge difference. We’ll also talk through everything during your pre-session consultation so you feel prepared and confident on the day of your family photos.
How do you handle bugs, wind, or other outdoor challenges?
I always visit our shooting location 1–2 days before your session to scout the best spots, making sure the areas are easy to walk through and free from tall grass or tricky terrain. I also carry child-safe bug spray with me at every session to keep everyone comfortable.
If the wind becomes too strong and would affect the quality of your photos, we’ll reschedule at no extra cost. Otherwise, a gentle breeze can actually add a beautiful, natural energy to your photos, especially when we position you facing the right direction!
Can we bring our pets to the family session?
Definitely! Furry friends are part of the family too, and we would love to include them in your session. Just let us know ahead of time so we can plan a pet-friendly location and make sure everything runs smoothly.
Can we request specific poses or shots during the session?
Of course! I want your family photos to truly feel like yours. Before the session, we’ll spend time discussing the types of photos you love, whether you prefer more traditional posed shots with everyone facing the camera or something more energetic and candid, or a mix of both. We’ll go over all the details so your session reflects your family’s unique style and personality.
How soon will we receive our family photos?
Within 3 days of your session, you’ll have access to your proof online gallery. From there, you can choose your favorite professionally retouched images. We will finish retouching within 15 days after you selection.
What should we wear for an outdoor family photography session?
I’ve created a complete outfit guide for you to review before your session, with tips on colors, textures, and what photographs best outdoors. The goal is to keep things simple and comfortable, there’s nothing complicated you need to prepare. To make things even easier, I also offer a curated mom’s closet that you’re welcome to borrow from. Many families find this takes away the hardest part of planning outfits and helps them feel confident and prepared for their family photography session.
