You’re carrying a whole new human being. Of course you’re going to gain weight. Whether it’s just a little or quite a lot, it’s all based on your body, your DNA, and your journey.

I’ve worked with so many pregnant moms who were worried about how they’d look in photos. And honestly? The weight gain they were worried about wasn’t even something I noticed. What stood out was their strength, softness, and love—that unmistakable glow that only a mom-to-be can radiate.

“But Models Only Gain 15 Pounds…”

I get it. You might see a celebrity post or a maternity influencer who looks like they barely changed. But here’s the truth: that’s literally their job. I’ve worked with models before. They’re paid to maintain a certain look, and some of them spend 8 hours a day exercising and sticking to strict diets—not always healthy ones, either.

I don’t know what your job is, but if you are not a doctor, would you blame yourself for not knowing how to perform surgery? If you are not a truck driver, would you blame yourself for not knowing how to drive a big truck? No, right? So why do you blame yourself for gaining more weight than a model?

I know some people have said, “Some of the girls in your maternity portfolio look slim.” But none of those tiny girls are at 38 weeks; they are all below 30 weeks. I’m pretty sure they look exactly the same as you at 38 weeks. Don’t compare yourself in 38 weeks with someone in 30 weeks.

Yes—You Can Still Look Amazing in Maternity Photos

So let’s answer the big question: do maternity photos look good with pregnancy weight gain?

Absolutely. 100%. Always.

Your body is doing something incredible. Whether you’re 20 weeks or 38 weeks, whether you’ve gained 15 pounds or 50, your maternity session is about capturing love, connection, and life growing inside you. None of that depends on a number on the scale.
